Team Apprentice Receives Outstanding Award in FELA Contest

Recently both society and the industrial world’s needs have had new dramatic changes. Its effect on the academic world and even the government has been devastating and it is becoming increasingly necessary to have an educational system that readies students for the rapidly changing environment. Universities and campuses everywhere have actively increased academic industry internship programs, cross-major study curriculums and many specialized cultivation plans to improve the students chances in the ever changing career world.
Another effective method of helping students improve their competitive ability is to give them opportunities to participate in academic contests. These contests can help students harness their learned skills in applicable ways that are certain to help them achieve career success in the future. Students of the Department of Finance and Management Technology made up the team “Apprentice,” to compete in the 2014 FELA competition on December 19th and received an award for their outstanding performance.
The FELA competition is jointly held by America’s Registered Financial Planner (RFP), Taiwan’s Registered Financial Planner (TRFP), TABF, Non-life Insurance Association of the R.O.C. and cnYES. It’s one of the most prestigious competitions held in Taiwan to date. The competition is designed to give students a platform so they can combine their theoretical and practical skills and gauge their effectiveness in the career world. The students from Apprentice competed in this years contest for 6 months before finally be named champion over National Taiwan University and Chengchi University. Second-year student of the Department of Finance, Yu-han Huang, stated, “We met with many different challenges during the course of this competition. We had to spend lots of the time in the library searching for answers before we were confident. Im really grateful to our teachers and counselors for giving us such good leadership and solid support.”
