Recently the entire world has come together in an activity to send shoes to children in need to the continent of Africa. 6 Senior Tamkang University students of the Department of Mass Communication: Shuang-shuang Huang, Ya-xuan Zhuo, Xin Chen, Qian-hao Wang, Dao Zhang and Lian-ru Chen have joined in the spirit of giving by working with BRlink to create a plan to give shoes to children in the countryside of Taiwan. They took the measurements of painted footprints provided by 61 different students from San Guang Elementary School in order to give them the exact sizes for their needs. This project has been titled, “The Shipping Ideas.”

Head of the group, Shuang-shuang Huang, expressed, “We decided to work together with BRlink using the concept of doing good works for earned money. When shoes are bought, those same shoes are donated to children in need. At the start of the project, we first had the economically challenged students walk on paper with paint on their feet and then asked them to write their wishes for the future. They were unaware that we would use the same footprints to attempt to bring some warmth into their lives. Shipping Ideas began in the beginning of April and we returned to San Guang Elementary school for a second time. Seeing the faces of the students as they opened each gift was such an amazing feeling.”

Senior student, Hu Die, stated, “I’m really grateful for their model example of generosity. By first measuring the students feet and then giving them shoes, they attended to the needs in the most accurate fashion.”
