The Office of Human Resources held the 2015-16 Workshop for New Administrative Positions on August 12th and 13th on Lanyang Campus. The workshop included reports from the Office of Academic Affairs, Human Resources and Financial Affairs. Various administrators were invited to share their work experience: Dean of the College of Engineering, Chii-dong Ho, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsiao-chuan Chen and Dean of the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Kao-cheng Wang. The aim of the forum was to utilize lectures and hands-on interaction to prepare the administrators for their new tasks in the short amount of time provided.
The event was hosted by Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, who emphasized the necessity of connectivity and unity of all the university departments, praised the departments efforts and progress, spoke on the future reputation of the university and pointed out key figures of administration. Because of all of the continual changes regarding education, the vice president pointed out the strategy to deal the “Aging Generation” and the effects of the baby bust generation, which included the 2016-18 Academic Development Plan, Implementation of the Academic Industry Cooperation Program, Student Career Assistance and Increasing Student Effectiveness.
During President Flora Chia-I Chang’s welcoming speech, she described the responsibilities of the administrative positions while speaking on the history and the development of the university. She stated that the departments were the heart and soul of the university, attracting reputation and news of all sorts. The president mentioned that in order to have true success, the departments would have to continue to learn and develop their understandings of their responsibilities while cultivating the direction of the students, but the most important factor remains unity and relationships.
