Director of the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library, Sheue-fang Song, expressed, “The slogan for this alliance is to Boldly Seek Knowledge as the Honor of TKU.” This year’s performing events were themed to give renewed life to tradition. The last day before vacation invigorated the audience with colorful dance, songs and poetry recitals.
The event was headed with a welcoming speech made by President Flora Chia-I Chang. She gave a report of the 2015 academic year, emphasizing the progress of research, administrative effectiveness and the three principles of TKU’s educational system: the development of an even more internationally-oriented, information-oriented and future-oriented program.
In terms of internationalization, she pointed out that this year there are over 1,800 overseas students and 500 Taiwanese students that have gone abroad for study. In terms of informationalization, she made mention of the new “Smart Campus” model, which allows for more interactive and digital services, such as cloud technology and other resources. As for future-oriented development, the university president pointed to programs that utilize a more strategic vision for TKU including cooperations with enterprises and political organizations.
The performance was divided into four parts, hosted by the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library’s Chu-yuan Cheng and Hsuan-tzu Kuo. The audience cheered along, encouraging the exciting dancers and listened carefully as a short film of TKU development was premiered. Throughout the afternoon, a raffle was held awarding cash prizes to employees to bless the start of the year of the monkey.
