Oct is the mildest and most pleasant time of the year in Tamsui. It's the perfect time for a road race. Thus, on Oct 22 (Saturday morning), to help mark the upcoming TKU 66th anniversary, Tamkang University held the “U9 League 2016 Huwei Park Mini Marathon”. Participants included the presidents of each of the U9 League universities: Tatung University, Chinese Culture University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Shih Hsin University, Soochow University, Shih Chien University, Taipei Medical University, Ming Chuan University, and, of course, Tamkang University. A total of over 10,000 students, faculty, and staff took part.

The establishment of the A9 League was a response to the phenomenon of falling birth rates coupled with increased numbers of colleges, which is a threat to the survival of many universities around Taiwan and the world. On Sept 28, 2012, the A9 League was formed as a coalition of Taipei-based universities with the purpose of banding together to support one another with the sharing of resources, and academic and administrative know-how.
