The College of Foreign Languages and Literature Faculty Joint Book Launch was held on Jan 3, 2019, at the TKU Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library, Tamsui Campus. The event marked the release of two new books written by Prof. Wu Hsi-Deh, Department of French, and Prof. Tsai Chen-hsing, Department of English. As the book launch commenced, the Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Dr. Wan-Bau Wu, introduced the authors of the two newly-published books, and invited Dr. Chii-Dong Ho, the TKU Vice President for Academic Affairs, to deliver opening remarks and offer words of encouragement. In attendance were a number of high-profile TKU faculty, including the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Shi-Feng Chuang, the Dean of the Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library, Song Sheue-fang, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Hui-Huang Hsu, Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture, Dr. Huang Jui-Mao, as well as over 30 other students and faculty members.

The title of Prof. Wu Hsi-Deh's new book is "I Resist Therefore I Am: Discussing the Modernity of Albert Camus's Works". The book provides a detailed look at Albert Camus, the contemporary writer who received the 1957 Nobel Prize in Literature. Prof. Wu emphasizes that this is the most comprehensive book in Taiwan to explore Camus's descriptive style and writing techniques.

Prof. Tsai Chen-hsing's book, on the other hand, re-examines the ethical relationship between people and their surrounds (nature, the environment, the climate), and attempts to investigate whether "environmental policy" can in fact effectively improve imbalances in the ecosystem.

After the two books had been introduced, the students and teachers in attendance enthusiastically took turns in asking questions about the two new tomes, receiving detailed responses directly from the authors. The event concluded as the participants came together for a large group photo.
