This year’s annual “Administration Evaluation” took place on October 19th, in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. This annual meeting was first initiated in 1966 in order to provide the an opportunity to discuss the future policies and development of the university. There were almost 200 individuals in attendance including, the president, vice president, deans, directors, secretaries and professors. The theme of this year’s annual meeting was “Strong Development Raises the University’s International Standing”.

Fu Jen Catholic University’s Dean of International Affairs, Professor Angela Yung-chi Hou, was invited to lecture on the effect the international standing can have on a am institute of higher learning and how to implement strategies to change the university’s global ranking. Afterwards, Dean of the College of Education, Dian-fu Chang, and the Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-Chin Tai, discussed “Hundreds of Great Strategies that can Raise the University’s Academic Reputation Internationally”.

The lecture on how to raise the academic reputation of a higher learning institute was divided into 5 different categories: concrete ways to raise the university’s academic reputation, effective ways to promote the reputation of the staff members, ways to increase the university’s ability for research, the use of articles and publications to attract attention, how to increase the quality of the international professors and staff, and way to improve methods of fundingraising.

President Flora Chia-I Chang stated, “In previous years most universities were unconcerned with their international standing. Now we have come to understand that a school’s ranking internationally will have a major impact on everything in the university. It is the only way to become a world-class institute. By looking at current world-class academic institutes, we can learn that they have a high-standard for the quality of students, staff and research. By modelling, adopting and enhancing some of the strategies of these universities we will be able to raise our international standing and impact student enrollment.”
