Along with the improvement of campus facilities, junior colleges must meet with the challenge of becoming more involved in social media groups online.

On the November 14th and 15th TKU held the Annual National Junior College Information and Administration Summit at the Fullon Hotel Danshuei Fishermen’s Wharf. Over 150 individuals from government informational organizations, academic institutes and specialized property management groups were gathered to discuss innovative services to form a more socially interactive campus. The four major areas of discussion were the usage and management of Mobility, Cloud, Social and Big Data networks.

The dean of the Department of Information and Technology Education, Professor Stephen Yang stated, “ Along with the changes in technology involving software and the internet there have been four major developments: Mobility, Cloud, Social and Big Data technology. It is crucial that our system of education remains flexible and so that we can utilize these technological advances in order to promote a more versatile way of learning. This year we will take all of the study materials and curriculum and infuse it with the new technology to make a more convenient learning environment.” Stephen further emphasized, “The purpose of the Annual National Junior College Information and Management Summit is to continue to improve our institutes through sharing knowledge, resources and experience. This certifies that every year our competitive advantage will increase.

President Chia-I Chang stated, “We have been promoting an information-oriented educational system for over 40 years. Who would have known that at the time of implementing computers into our education, that computers would grow to have such a deep impact on everyone’s lives? According to research, in 2011 there are over 1,000,000,000 users online. They estimate that by the year 2015 there will be at least 3,800,000,000 users online.” President Chang then emphasized that by making our campus into a more socially interactive network, we increase the opportunities of development for our students and for the entire nation.

At one o’clock in the afternoon Deputy Executive Secretary of Science and Technology, Yen-Nen Huang, used Open Data to present a strategy. This projected plan was called, “The Study of Strategic Alliance between Community Colleges and Local Universities in Taiwan.” His presentation pointed out that through cooperation, a new vision of Taiwan could be achieved.
