The 2014 Athletic Games Flag Presentation Ceremony Takes Place

The 2014 Athletic Games Flag Presentation Ceremony took place at noon on May 9th on the fourth floor of the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium. President Flora Chia-I Chang began the event by encouraging the participants as they gathered their focus for the great oncoming competition. The winner of the competition will receive 10,000 NT in addition to having their reputation promoted throughout all of the junior colleges in the nation.

The 2014 Junior College Athletic Games Competition will take place from May 17th until May 24th in the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology. This year is the largest competition in history, holding 12 events with a total of 164 competing schools. Tamkang University participants include 157 faculty members and students competing in swimming, ping pong, badminton, tennis, taekwondo, judo, karate, fencing, archery and cricket. The Dean of the Office of Physical Education, Shu-feng Hsiao, waved the Tamkang University flag while giving chants of encouragement to the brave competitors.

President Chang stated that this event was a key symbol for the Three Circles and Five Disciplines educational system. She showed her gratitude for the preparation and training that everyone has undergone for the event. Last year TKU received 6 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals showing the excellent physical prowess and teamwork of TKU. This year’s competition is sure to be another triumph for the university.
