TKU Holds Academic Summit with Shuai-lai Chen Foundation

President Jiu Ying Ma has put forth his ideology of education that states, “Work with care to cultivate the next generation with personalized well-rounded development and expand students’ international perception to harness their potential.” In recent years students have had a problem finding employment successfully after graduation, which has become an issue that the government has been trying to address.

Dean of the Office of Alumni Services and Resources Development, Chun-young Perng, stated, “Because of the problems finding employment Tamkang University has collaborated with the Shuai-lai Chen Foundation to hold the Tamkang University Alumni Summit at the Ching-fu ShipBuilding on May 30th. The purpose of the summit was to discuss the strategies of student cultivation in the near future.” For the event they invited speaker Xiang-ping Ma from the Ministry of Education, President of Dong Hwa University, Maw-Kuen Wu, and President of Jianguo High School, Wei-hen Chen to share ideas and experience.

At the opening of the event President Flora Chia-I Chang expressed, “I am grateful to the Ministry of Education, Presidents and alumni that were able to participate in today’s summit.” She continued to express the history of Tamkang University as it has cultivated many elite members of society thanks to the contributions and support of the attending members. During the summit the speakers focused on the challenges and changes of higher education teaching methods. They discussed ideas of how to better approach and adapt to the 21 century. The decided objective heading into the future was to have teaching methods that carry a keen focus on globalization, competitive ability and adaptability with future needs and resources.
