The 2013 Student Club Admissions Fair kicked off on Poster Street (海報街) on Tamsui TKU campus. The fair was held under the joint collaboration of the Student Association and the Joint Alumni Association on September 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th and 18th, with a total of 128 clubs joining the festivities and contending with one another in lively displays of their unique features for freshman students in an effort to solicit new members.

Each club used all their tricks to attract new members, with members of the Cheerleaders Club in their club uniforms erecting a human pyramid right on Poster Street. The Motor Fans Club displayed large motor bikes, the New Taipei City Alumni performed robot cosplay, and there was role-playing in camos and Japanese bathrobes using all kinds of props so that freshman could see the richness of TKU student clubs. Freshman German major Jian Zhizhong said that he hopes to join a very active club that makes his university life fly by brilliantly.

Candy City Revolution is the theme of this year’s fair, with candy used as the design element for the entire venue and activities planned as nodes on the “Candy Map” where students can collect seals of approval by learning about three different clubs and then exchange the seals for souvenirs at the service counter. Student club performances were held this week starting at noon at the University Commons, with people looking forward to “Club Night” on the 16th in the Student Activity Center beginning at 6pm. The innovative Li Yiting with the Office of Student Affairs said, “The program is guaranteed to be brilliant, and you will regret it if you don’t come!” Yang Zongying, a freshman majoring in Public Administration thinks that the student club fair is a great opportunity to participate in TKU student club achievements, and that the beautiful musical performance by the Guitar Club made a very deep impression on people.

Li Yiting said that she hopes freshmen can enthusiastically participate in club activities in a passionate display of youthfulness, saying that life at the university is marvelous. There are nine student club categories at TKU: crafts and skills, friendship, recreation, physical education, services, religion, music, academic and autonomous. In 2013 the number of student clubs increased to 221. The twelve new clubs on Tamsui campus are the Japanese Mahjong Club, the Personal Image Developing Club, the Motion News Club, the International Affairs Learning Club, the Game Development Community, the Freeling Skate Club, the Board Game Studying Club, the Derrick Leader Club, the Capoeira Club, the A Wo O Do Ri Club, the Ukulele Club and the Student Arbitration Committee. Two new Lanyang campus clubs are the Lanyang Campus Tai-ji Club and the Lanyang Foreign Student Association. University life is very diverse; a student only has to access the school’s resources and find the life he or she wants, and the abundant and wonderful student club activities during four years of university can certainly be rewarding experiences for students.
