On January 1st the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs (OICSA) held the Second Tamkang World Forum Youth Leaders 2015 event. This year the forum was themed, “The Major Issues Facing the World,” and published dissertations covered topics related to globalism, political economics, social studies, culture, peace, energy, food and environmental issues in order to give the youth leaders knowledge of the core factors that will make them competitive in the modern era.
This year’s forum included students from all over the world: University of Oxford, Moscow State University, University of Vienna, Queensland University of Technology, Dankook University, Kyung Hee University, Tsuda College, Nagasaki University, Kyushu University, Gakushuin University, Ritsumeikan University, and Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr. SR Technical University, coming to a total of 10 countries, 13 academic institutions and 32 students. Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, stated, “We’ve invited the University of Oxford, Moscow State University and other well-known sister schools in the past to do research seminars and workshops. But now we want to give students a chance to gain skills and experience in the area of publishing.”
One participant in the leadership forum and fourth-year student of the Department of Business Administration, Wen-yi Chen, stated, “This is my first time being able to work with international students to deal with serious issues. It’s great to be able to challenge myself and gain a more global perspective on problem solving.” First-year student from Oxford University, Justin, stated, “This is my first time in Taiwan and I am learning a lot about different cultures. This event has given me a new view on life.”
