This winter break Tamkang University clubs that will be offering social services will include 31 different service teams with nearly 700 participants, reaching an all time high. On January 19th they held an event in the Student Activity Center titled, “Planting the Seeds of Hope is an Exciting Lifestyle.” For this winter vacation, 30 of the TKU service teams will be offering their services all around Taiwan while one of the groups will be heading overseas to volunteer their assistance in Thailand. For this exciting activity, the groups will be teaching Chinese language and culture, meeting with the needs of people that would never normally have an opportunity to come in contact with such a good quality education program.
Leader of the Thailand Service and Study Team, Wei-lun Huang, stated, “This winter there are a lot of people willing to contribute towards the education of people living in the more remote areas. This is a commendable sacrifice for the students and really speaks about their character. I hope that our service team is able to spread their care into every possible region that needs it.” In attendance for the flag ceremony to launch the event and encourage team members was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, Vice President of Administration, Jen-yi Hu, Dean of the Office Academic Affairs, Chih-en Ko, Dean of the Office of General Affairs, Shiaw-shyan Luo and the leaders of every group.
