The President of Kyungnam University Visits TKU

Dr. Park Jae Kyu, President of Kyungnam University of Korea, came to Tamkang University for a visit on March 3rd. The honored guest first met with President Flora Chia-I Chang, who hosted the discussion between the two universities. Also in attendance was Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Dean of the College of Engineering, Chii-dong Ho, Dean of the College of Business and Management, Chien-liang Chiu and Director of the Office of International Exchange and International Education, Pei-wha Chi Lee.

Kyungnam University is located in Busan, Korea and was founded in 1946. The school’s motto is Truth, Freedom and Creativity, giving it a spirit similar to TKU. In 1985 the two schools officially became sister universities and have had a healthy relationship ever since. Students of Kyungam University travel to TKU yearly for study and TKU students often participate in Kyungnam’s summer exchange, Global Hanma Program. Last May President Chang flew to Korea to pay a visit, which lead to President Kyu’s friendly visit on the 3rd of this month. President Kyu mentioned that he was very impressed with the environment of TKU campus and mentioned the visit would leave a lasting impression. He also stated that the engineering and technology resources at TKU were outstanding and that he hopes in the future to be able to collaborate with a technological exchange program.
