TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Tamkang University (TKU, 淡江大學) yesterday signed an Academia-Industry Alliance Agreement with over 200 corporations in hopes of increasing student competitiveness upon graduation. The agreement seeks to incorporate practical, real world experiences and lessons from corporations into the TKU curriculums, featuring internships for students at collaborating companies that fit with their majors. Companies expect certain qualities from university students today, said TKU President Flora Chia-I Chang (張家宜), such as a proper work ethic, teamwork and problem solving skills as well as proper stress and emotional control. Chang also stated that she wants students to absorb valuable experiences during their internships, to bring with them favorable abilities and competitiveness when entering into work. Students and company representatives also shared their experiences and expectations during the agreement ceremony, with one student stating that she would soon be entering the company at which she had interned after having a very positive experience there.
