For European Union Week of 2015, the Graduate Institute of European Studies held the, “East Asian Politics and Security Forum on May 7th. In attendance was Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Dean of the College of International Studies, Kao-cheng Wang, Director of the Graduate Institute of European Studies and the Center for European Union Studies, Li-chuan Chen, Associate Professor of Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Da-jung Li, Senior Consultant of Chinese National Federation of Industries, Chun-fang Hsu and 17 diplomats of the European Union from Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Austria, Holland, Estonia, Italy, Slovenia, Lithuania, Croatia, Latvia, Brussels, Bulgaria and Finland.

The international discussion focused on the current status of East Asia and the changes that will affect its neighbors. Li-chuan Chen, stated, “The face of development and economics in Asia has completely changed. This forum was held to provide background information regarding policies, trade and development so that these changes could be better understood.” Scholars provided both national and international data as they shared their opinion of the Asian and European Union relationship. Scholars also analyzed the current situation between the two continents and provided perspective of possible direction for the future. In the end the representative of Czech Republic, Jukl, expressed special thanks for providing the opportunity for all of the representatives to learn and work together.
