TKU Scores Big in Film

The Taipei City Government’s Ministry of Labor held the Taipei Film and Theater Union’s 2015 Labor Film Award last week in Song Shan Cultural and Creative park. Tamkang University students of the Department of Mass Communication were awarded in categories of Optimization, Honorable Mention and Most Touching Film for their created documentaries, becoming some of the most notable filmmakers throughout every campus in Taiwan.

The Labor Award Committee began selected films in May after a month of reviews. A total of 49 films were selected from the 2014-15 time period and the Department of Mass Communication’s students made their presence known. Participants included Yin-hua Zhang, Qi-ting Ceng, Kai-qi Zhang, Dong-zhen You, She-yi Lin, Ying-zhen Lu and Qing-qing Xu put together the film, “Land of One Direction”; Zhi-han Lin, Bo-kai Liu, Yu-guang Chen, Yi-ru He, Yi-yi Xu, Xiang-hao Hu and He-wei He, created, “The Beekeepers”; and Qian-bin Fan, who created, “Land of Survival,” for last year’s graduation ceremony.

After a month of casting votes, the “Land of One Direction,” was awarded the Most Touching Film Award, winning 10,000 NT; “Beekeepers” and “Land of Survival” both received the Optimization and Honorable Mention Award, winning 50,000 NT apiece.
