The 10th lecture of the Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair Lecture Series was given by Dr. Daniel Drache, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at York University, Canada, and Associate Director of the Robarts Center for Canadian Studies. Dr. Drache’s fields of interest include issues related to globalization and policy considerations in various fields due to the impact of globalization. He has been commissioned multiple times to partake in research for various Canadian government institutions, and has visited numerous universities around the world to provide lectures and conduct research.
Dr. Drache's lecture was held at 10:00 am on May 7, 2019 at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Hall. It centered on the following topic: Happy 5th Birthday Belt and Road: Has Beijing Much to Celebrate? Successes and Failures.
During Dr. Drache’s visit to Tamkang University, he was also taken on a tour of the TKU Graduate Institute of China Studies and delivered a lecture to the faculty and students from the Department of English. TKU also arranged for him to tour famous sites in both Taipei City and New Taipei City, and anticipates even closer collaboration with Dr. Drache in the future.
