To usher in a new era of AI-enhanced teaching, Tamkang University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering held the “AI Project Application Train-the-Trainer Program” on July 6–7 in Computer Lab E213 of the Engineering Building. Despite the summer heat, the program attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty members across the university, with all 30 faculty members who completed the entire program receiving certificates.
The training program was organized in collaboration with the National Project Management Association and featured Hsiu-Ying Hsu, a distinguished Golden Eagle alumna of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and President of the Chinese Project Management Association, who returned to Tamkang to lead the training. Through an intensive 12-hour, two-day hands-on program, faculty members gained practical proficiency in AI tools and project management techniques. The program concluded with an on-site certification examination. After passing both the written and practical assessments, participants earned the AIPA-A “AI Project Application Specialist” professional certification, valid for three years.
Hsu explained that, in addition to certification, participating faculty members would receive electronic teaching modules and teacher’s manual templates free of charge. These resources allow faculty to integrate the materials flexibly into existing courses without adding new courses or changing the credit structure, helping Tamkang establish a systematic and measurable framework for practical AI education across the university. Chia-Ping Yu, Professor in the Department of Information Management, said she plans to incorporate the AIPA-A materials into her Systems Analysis and Design course, guiding students in using AI to carry out project-based work.
Shih-Hsin Chen, Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and organizer of the program, also participated in the training. He noted that project management has a wide range of applications beyond teaching. The techniques can also be applied to personal workflow management, such as managing the process of master’s thesis examinations, making them highly practical. Chi-Tung Peng, Lecturer in the Department of Education and Futures Design, said his experience over the two days demonstrated how quickly and effectively AI can generate project-related content. He found the training particularly valuable for project managers like himself who have managed multiple projects despite having no formal training in project management.
The program received strong support from the National Project Management Association, which provided participants with complimentary benefits valued at NT$15,200, including the training course, normally priced at NT$12,000, and the NT$3,200 AIPA-A certification examination fee. The two-day core curriculum was carefully structured: Day One focused on “AI Fundamentals and Planning Practice,” teaching faculty members to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Gamma to automatically generate project charters, develop work breakdown structures (WBS), and plan project schedules. Day Two focused on “AI Monitoring and AIPA-A Certification,” covering hands-on AI risk monitoring, the practical assessment, and a 50-question computer-based written examination.
