On July 2, Global Views Monthly announced its 2026 Taiwan Best Universities Rankings. In the university peer assessment, Tamkang University ranked 11th nationwide in Business and Management and No. 1 among private universities, reflecting the strong recognition it has earned among senior administrators at universities across Taiwan. Among the rankings’ six major dimensions, Tamkang placed 8th nationwide and 2nd among private universities in internationalization.

As one of Taiwan’s largest colleges of business and management, Tamkang University’s College of Business and Management has nearly 10,000 students and 200 faculty members. The College was established in the 2012–2013 academic year through the merger of the former College of Business and College of Management. It comprises 11 academic departments, each with its own research center. The College places strong emphasis on corporate internships and maintains close ties with a wide range of industries, positioning itself as an “Industry-Oriented College,” the first of its four defining characteristics. The second is an “Innovation and Entrepreneurship-Oriented College,” which supports students in developing ideas in creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The third is a “Smart and Sustainable College,” with curricula oriented toward smart technologies and sustainability. The fourth is an “Internationalized College,” which builds on the Ministry of Education’s EMI Bilingual Education Program to foster an English-medium learning environment and expand opportunities for international exchange. The College’s strong performance in this year’s peer assessment can be viewed as an important milestone marking 14 years of development since the merger.

Tamkang also ranked 8th nationwide in internationalization, one of the six major dimensions in the rankings. This dimension encompasses indicators such as the proportion of international students, international collaboration, and dual-degree programs. The strong result echoes Tamkang’s performance in the 2026 World Best Value University Rankings for International Students, released by Study Abroad Aide (SAA) on June 20. Among 8,477 universities worldwide evaluated by SAA, Tamkang ranked 986th globally, advancing 269 places from the previous year. Among the 123 Taiwanese universities included in the rankings, Tamkang placed 10th nationwide and first among private universities.

Tamkang also recorded notable improvements in the Teaching Capacity dimension. Its ranking for the undergraduate student retention rate rose by 14 places, while its student-faculty ratio improved by 18 places. In addition, Tamkang ranked 4th nationwide for the availability of online databases, a newly introduced indicator, and 6th nationwide for the total holdings of books, non-book materials, and current newspapers and periodicals.

The 2026 Global Views Monthly Taiwan Best Universities Rankings assess the overall performance of universities using 53 indicators and 77 sub-indicators. Based on factors including institutional type, public or private status, academic field, geographic region, institutional size, and financial resources, the rankings comprise 21 categories of overall institutional performance. The 53 indicators are also grouped into six major dimensions: Social Reputation, Academic Achievement, Teaching Capacity, Internationalization, Industry-Academia Performance, and Financial Strength.

In terms of academic-field classification, due to a decline in the number of humanities and social sciences departments, Tamkang was reclassified for the first time from the Humanities and Social Sciences category to the Comprehensive Universities (excluding Humanities and Social Sciences and Medicine) category, in which it ranked 18th nationwide. Tamkang also appeared in the peer assessments for three additional fields: Mass Communication, Languages, and Services, ranking 7th, 8th, and 8th nationwide, respectively. The university ranked 21st overall in competitiveness.
